Leni Leanne Phillips is a writer based in Pismo Beach, California. Her work has appeared or is forthcoming in The Rumpus, the Los Angeles Review of Books, The Coachella Review, and elsewhere. She is currently at work on her first novel–a collection of linked stories set against the backdrop of California’s turbulent history–and a memoir in essays based on her experiences growing up in California.

Leanne is the Books Editor for GXRL. She is a former Multimedia Editor, Books Editor, and Lead Copy Editor for The Coachella Review and is a former Fiction and Poetry Editor for Byzantium.

Leanne is an MFA candidate in the University of California at Riverside’s Palm Desert program in Creative Writing and Writing for the Performing Arts. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in English, with an emphasis in creative writing and a minor in history, at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo.
